Magnolia
“Magnolia” Collection gets its name from the type of wood employed in this series of doors, which in fact belongs to Magnoliacee Family. Its real name is Liriodendron , because of the resemblance of its flowers with tulips, and it’s used in honey production (to honey owes its sweet and delicate fragrance), and in wood manufacture too.
The Liriodendron tree originally comes from U.S. oriental coast, but is currently grown all over the world , especially in Europe. Liriodendron is a beautiful, fine, stable, tender wood and easy to handle, therefore allowing valuable decorations and well-defined details. It’s distinguished by a compact texture, regular with straight fibres. It has a light colour, almost whitish, with darker veins and flames.
Planed and smoothed down surfaces show a mat finish, very beautiful and peculiar, that can be worked in with every kind of dyes and lacquers, considering that this wood reacts in an excellent way to treatments with varnishes, mordants and primers. Once treated, Liriodendron can resemble Walnut wood and guarantees a very elegant achievement. The veins grant a particular originality of colours, as a matter of fact this wood is much researched by carvers, who utilize it within their compositions.
Liriodendron wood offers a great durability in time, because there are no risks of bending or splitting. Such an eclectic and delicate wood could surely not miss in AGOPROFIL® production.
